International Wine Report Ratings
2019 Aubaine Pinot Noir Estate: 93 points
“Aged for about 18 months in 30% new French oak, this wine is very Burgundian in style with a complex nose of wild thimbleberry, black cherry, forest moss, cardamom, milk chocolate and toasted cinnamon stick. The palate is savory and delicious with notes of ripe strawberry and sweet baking spices but ends with an earthy characteristic that I adore and gravitate towards. I am looking forward to see what they can do with their future vintages as their first effort is outstanding.” – J. Young
2019 Aubaine Chardonnay: 92 points
“A brand new Chardonnay from winemaker Isabelle Meunier and Andy Lytle, coming from their estate vineyard surrounding the At They Joy property, this lovely wine is aged for about 5 months in 20% new French oak. Sporting fantastic acidity and just enough oak to make it interesting, the beautiful nose explodes with aromas of lemon curd, yellow peach, dried banana and ground allspice. I adore the nose on this wine as it shows a bit of reductiveness which I love in my Oregon Chardonnays. Beautiful acidity carries the wine on the palate along with luscious flavors of mango, ripe stone fruit and a stony mineral finish.” -J. Young
2019 Aubaine “Joie” Pinot Noir: 92 Points
“Aubaine is a brand new project from Andy Lytle and winemaker Isabelle Meunier, with the goal of crafting the finest expressions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Eola-Amity AVA. The nose on this fantastic Pinot Noir opens with aromas of fresh blackberry, wild mushrooms, purple roses and just a touch of pencil eraser and forest floor. Blueberry, clove and crushed gravel form the core of the palate, finishing with medium acidity, integrated tannins and solid length. A great first effort.” -J. Young
